Vincenzo Ristorante Italiano captured 2nd place at the Italian Culinary Center in Manhattan when some of the nation's top Italian chefs faced off in the final round of the annual Italian Cooking and Living Recipe Contest.
"It was a transatlantic competition on night four of the Italian Culinary Center's 2nd Annual Recipe Contest. Chef Valdo Verreschi of Antico Ristorante Forassiepi in Lucca, Italy, flew in to compete against Vincenzo Zizzo of Vincenzo Ristorante Italiano in San Diego, California. Verreschi and his wife, Sophie Musso, prepared a colorful spinach lasagna with bechamel and saffron. Zizzo and his son, Anthony, prepared fresh oysters with a vibrant saffron and leek sauce."
